Picture from Todays Math Class

In the picture below you will see what my class mates and I did all by our self's without any help from the teacher. This was the very first problem which we created for our planets using from little help to no help at all from the teacher

In the picture you will see that the two lines (which are our planets) intercept at exactly (5,20) Here is the picture!

(Sorry for picture being sideways, I tried many was to change it but it just did not want to work)

Donkey Poo

"Solving system of equations helps you make smart choices"
-Mr McKenzie
Planet 1= Zoolander
Planet 2= callmemaybe

There are 2 planets. Planet Zoolander already had 10 mt of oxygen while planet callmemaybe had 5 mt. Planet Zoolander oxygen which is produce from donkey poo raises 2 mt each week. Whilst planet callmemaybe rises 4 mt each week. This information is extremely important to what were doing next.

How would you write this scenario in different forms such as the three below:

-Slope intercept form
-Standered form

Starting of with the slope interecpt form which would look a little something like this: 2x+10=4x+5

Secondly we will solve for the standered form: 2x+10=y  make y into zero find x, after that make x into zero and find y. Do the same thing to 4x+5=y and you have your answer.

What is the Point of Point Slope Form?

This kind of equation consists of a problem in which you have the variables inside the number graphing line. Ex (1x,1y) In other words you have the point and the slope (which as you may remember from last class equals m.) Because each of these standered slope intercept forms have some sort of formula so does this one. This ones unlike the others like i said is placed as the numbers would be when wanting to graph when given the problem, but The formula however looks like this:
y-y1=m(x-x1)
The point of this form is to find lines with slopes that go through points (look at the picture below)

Greater then, Less then, Equal too

We were given the assignment to calculate who would finish faster in digging the wholes on our planet the humans or the machines, plus to that we have to use the words greater then, less then or equal to in sentence from.

We found out by our data/questions which is:

6:00 people started digging with shovels and picks. They dug at a pace of 8 meter per hour in depth. Later in the day around 9:00 the machine started digging with their drills they drilled at about 14 meters per hour.

Even by not doing and equational work we can see that during a period of time the machines will eventually over take the humans and have more work done. Now at what time will they be the same (depth wise not time) In 56 meters the two (humans and machines) will be equal to everything after that point the machines would carry the win and be greater then, however before the 56 meters the machines had less then the humans.

System of Equations Scenarious

Equation In Word Form: The Arses of Zer are very eager to find more oil for machines. So on July 5 they builders started digging. The community decided to have machines and people digging. So early in the morning at 6:00 people started digging with shovels and picks. They dug at a pace of 8 meter per hour in depth. Later in the day around 9:00 the machine started digging with their drills they drilled at about 14 meters per hour. The machines never slowed because they had to be plugged into outlets (ginourmous outlets). The machines and people had to dig in two separate places or else the people would be crushed by the massive drills. Both groups had to dig 40 meters. At what time did the machines pass the peoples depth rate?

Vip Vs Telenor

Vip
-Monthly fee: 590
-Minutes: 100
-Cost per minute:7.9

Telenor (Edited)
-Monthly fee: 600
-Minutes: 100
-Cost per minute: 6.00

To solve this problem and truly see which mobile device is better for you (vip or either telenor the edited version) we would have to make this into a equation. When we do it should look a little something like this:
y=6x + 600 = y=7.9x + 590

After we find out the answer this problem can then easily be graphed thus making it more clear to the viewers which mobile devise is TRUELY better. Now after doing this we want to find out what x is! Which means we are going to cancel down all the numbers until we find out what x is (i don't know the proper term for this but it look a little this)

y=6x + 600 = y=7.9x + 590
-590 -590

y=6x + 10 = y=7.9x
-6x -6x

y=10 = y=1.9x

10/1.9 = 5.2

So at the end we find out that are answer is 10 over 1.9 or in similar words 5.2. And soon enough it is the end to our problem. Something that seems difficult isn't really. I hope you got everything that I wrote down and that you could follow me through my step

3 Learner Profiles

1. The first learner profile i choose to talk about is risk-taking, not because its the easies to understand but because you can apply risk-taking to a lot of situations. Risk-taking is when a person steps up his game and tries to solve/do/succeed in something which isn't very familiar to him. You can apply risk-taking to math. For example if there is an odd and hard problem on the bored to be a risk-taker you (logically) have to take a risk and stand up in front of that class just do it. One thing I'v found out through out the years is that teachers like students who are risk-takers and can take matters into their own hands.

2. The second learner profile i choose is caring, which to me is one of the most important learner profiles because, first you won't be good and would offend a lot of people with out this trade, second you wouldn't go far in life, and third its much easier to be mean, thats why you have to show some class and just be as caring and gentle as possible.

3. The third learner profile i choose is being reflective. This is especially useful in my years when your in school and have to reflect over your work or classmates. But now when I'm starting to grown and understand more things in life, i also understand that reflective is a profile choose to look at your self and see what you do like of your present state and what you don't and that's how you make changes to become a better man, student, father/mother.

IXL: Fraction,Decimal, and Percentage Questions

  • How do you feel about fractions, decimals, and percentages? (What is confusing, what is easy?
I feel pretty confident about the problems that were displayed on IXL although i still have a lot to learn until i reach the level i want to of knowing fractions, decimals and percentages. Most of the problems were quite easy and the ones that had to do with multiplication weren't as challenging as others. One thing i really have to learn is how to convert % into fractions and decimals and so on. As i mentioned previously i still have a long way to go when it comes to learning this to be completely sure about this topic.

  • What are you plans to improve these skills?

I will work on IXL frequently and will finish all my homework as well as try to go deeper into the subject then most people. I will as many questions when i see that i haven't understood what we were talking about and will ask those questions until i get it! Of course i won't hold the class back because of my questions so i will also during my time (If the teacher accepts it) will come ask.
